COLOMBO: The Department of Immigration & Emigration has announced that from January 1, 2023 the embarkation card for outbound Sri Lankan travellers and arrival cards for inbound international travellers will have to be submitted online.

The new system requires all foreign travellers arriving in Sri Lanka and locals departing the country to complete the cards online via the official website of the department or the following link: https://eservices.immigration.gov.lk/emb/eEmbarkation/’#/home-page

Using the new process, tourists visiting the country and outbound Sri Lankan travellers are required to fill in their respective cards three days prior to the date of their scheduled flight, Previously this was done either at the airport or onboard the aircraft prior to landing at Bandaranaike International Airport.

Controller General of Immigration and Emigration Department, Mr. Harsha Ilukpitiya said this step was taken with the aim of minimising the inconveniences experienced by air passengers at the airport when completing their immigration and emigration formalities, as well as ensuring the smooth facilitation of immigration and emigration services at the airport.
