NEW DELHI: Marg, a Mumbai-based not-for-profit publisher, whose mission is to augment interest in Indian art and culture, has published a book titled “Sri Lanka: Connected Art Histories”, the Sri Lanka High Commission in India said in its monthly news bulletin.
The book showcases the island’s diverse artistic traditions ranging from the ancient city of Anuradhapura to the contemporary art scene in Jaffna. It further gives multiple voices and media to locate the island within its larger geographical space, giving Sri Lanka a unique voice in the global artistic community.
The book, which also brings attention to Sri Lanka’s contacts with the European world, will be of interest to students and enthusiasts of Asian art and intersecting cultures.
The book is authored and edited by Sujatha Arundathi Meegama, Assistant Professor at the School of Art, Design and Media at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
