Celebrate Sri Lanka Day in Pasadena on 14 July

LOS ANGELES: The Sri Lanka Foundation is hosting its free annual Sri Lanka Day Exposition on Saturday, 14 July  in Pasadena, California, according to a report in the Pasadena Star News.

The festivities will include traditional dance troupes, a fashion show, musical acts, an exotic food festival, pop-up booths with sarongs, jewelry, batik, hand loomed textiles, and traditional outfits. The event will culminate in a “Pageant of Lanka” parade floating down Colorado Boulevard at sunset.

The expo also serves as a kick-off for a fundraiser to build a much-needed hospital expansion in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The celebration will begin at 10 a.m. and last until 10 p.m. at Pasadena City Hall.

The Los Angeles-based Sri Lanka Foundation, which is dedicated to the preservation of Sri Lankan culture, annually organises Sri Lanka Day, a spectacle of sights, tastes, and colors of Sri Lanka aimed at uniting generations of Sri Lankans together as a community, to help pass along the island’s history and heritage from one generation to another.
