Community Outreach in Toronto under Clean Sri Lanka Programme

TORONTO:On Saturday, January 4, 2025, the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Toronto conducted its first voluntary community outreach under the Clean Sri Lanka  programme in Scarborough. The event aimed to assist the Sri Lankan Canadian community with their consular requirements, and over 800 people visited the Consular Mobile Service throughout the day,

During the event, the Consul General of Sri Lanka in Toronto briefed the community members on the vision and objectives of the Clean Sri Lanka programme.;aunched recently by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. He affirmed that the Consulate has incorporated the priorities and guiding principles of the programme into its plan of action to provide better service to the world’s largest and growing overseas Sri Lankan community. The Consul General also commended the continued support and contribution of the Consulate General staff in implementing this national programme.

The community engagement was carried out with the voluntary support of the Consulate General staff on a day outside the regular workweek, at zero cost to the Government of Sri Lanka. The Canada-Sri Lanka Business Convention provided the business venue for the event and extended great hospitality to the attendees.

This initiative demonstrates the commitment of the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Toronto to engage with the Sri Lankan Canadian community and provide them with essential consular services while promoting the Clean Sri Lanka programme.
