COLOMBO, June 2019: The Department of Immigration and Emigration has increased the fees for issuance of passports with effect from June 1 in line with budget proposals approved by Parliament for the year 2019.
Under the revised fee structure, a passport can be obtained using the normal service at a cost of Rs.3,500, an increase of Rs.500 while the fee for a foreign travel document for children below 16 years of age, and which is valid for three years, has increased to Rs.2,500 from Rs.2,000.
The fee for issuing a passport under the one day service has increased to Rs.15,000 from Rs.10,000 while the fee for obtaining a passport in one day for children below 16 years of age, with a 3-year validity period, has increased to Rs.7,500 from Rs.5,000.
The new fee for making alterations in the passport has increased from Rs.500 to Rs.1,000 per alteration.
