TOKYO: Laksala Handicrafts signed a master franchise agreement with Sala Enterprises on 6 October 2021, that was facilitated by the Sri Lanka Mission in Japan.
Sala Enterprises as the master franchisee for Laksala in Japan currently decided to collaborate with M&J Retail Outlets that sell 100% Sri Lankan products as the first franchisee to retail Laksala Handicrafts.
M&J Group’s latest retail store was opened in the AEON Mall in Narita few weeks ago where they also operate a largescale Italian Restaurant. M&J will also facilitate the logistical aspects of all Laksala online sales in Japan. Sala Enterprises is the master franchisee planning to launch a Japanese language Laksala products website custom made to the Japanese consumers.
The Sri Lanka mission is seeking more partners to retail and distribute over 50,000 Sri Lankan items that Laksala carries within Japan. Though most Sri Lankan products have some tariffs in Japan, most Laksala Handicrafts will fall under the HS Codes that have Zero or very minimal tariff, which certainly is an advantage to Sri Lanka.
