COLOMBO: Nine new Cabinet Ministers were sworn in before President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the President’s House in Colombo
The new ministers who took oaths are:
Nimal Siripala de Silva – Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation
Dr. Susil Premajayantha – Minister of Education
Dr. Keheliya Rambukwella – Minister of Health
Dr. Wijayadasa Rajapaksha – Judiciary, Prisons and Minister of Constitutional Reforms
Harin Fernando – Minister of Tourism and Lands
Ramesh Pathirana – Minister of Plantation Industries
Manusha Nanayakkara – Minister of Labor and Foreign Employment
Nalin Fernando – Minister of Trade, Commerce and Food Security
Tiran Alles – Minister of Public Security
The nine new ministers join the first four ministers who were appointed last week:
Prof. G.L Peiris – Minister of Foreign affairs
Dinesh Gunawardena – Minister of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government
Prasanna Ranatunga- Minister of Urban Development & Housing
Kanchana Wijesekera- Minister of Power & Energy
President Rajapaksa appointed Ranil Wickremesinghe, head of the UNP as the new Prime Minister following the resignation of his brother Mahinda Rajapaksa this month.
