Sri Lanka takes centre stage at Thai International Travel Fair

BANGKOK, January 2019: The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Bangkok together with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB), coordinated and facilitated the participation of twelve Sri Lankan travel and tour companies at the 26th Thai International Travel Fair (TITF) hosted by the Thai Travel Agents Association (TTAA) held from 16-19 January 2020, at the IMPACT Hall in Bangkok.

The Sri Lankan pavilion was ceremonially opened by Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand Samantha K. Jayasuriya, and President of Thai Travel Agents Association (TTAA) Thanapol Cheewarattanaporn, representatives from the Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA), Junior Manager of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) responsible for Thailand Shirani Herath, First Secretary (Commerce) of the Embassy Anil Sirimanna and Manager of the SriLankan Airlines in Bangkok Riza Yusoof. The participating Sri Lankan tour agents joined in the opening of the Sri Lankan pavilion by lighting the traditional oil lamp amidst the rhythms of the ‘magulbera’.

The cultural troupe of the Sri Lankan Army led by Cpt. Ajith Ruwanpura performed at the opening ceremony of the TITF and also at the Sri Lankan booth showcasing their vibrant and colorful dancing and drumming skills, attracting more visitors to the Sri Lankan pavilion. Ceylon Tea and a taste of Sri Lankan cuisine offered at the booth made it more appealing to the crowds visiting the booth, while raising awareness of Sri Lanka, as an interesting and ‘must visit’ destination, where a rich array of attractions are in offer that suits to each and every one.

The TITF is the largest tour fair in Thailand that promotes a wide range of tourism products and related services, drawing approximately 400,000 visitors, including tour operators, travel agents, hoteliers, media and consumers. Jetwing Travels, Ya Tours, Nawamini Travels, Karusan Travels, Ayubowan Tours & Travels, Red Apple Travel & Holidays, Aitken Spence Travels, Ceylon Tours, Jagath Tours, Savari Travels, NKAR Travels and Daya Holidays Pvt Ltd participated in the TITF 2020.
