COLOMBO: If you are thinking of exploring the wonders of Sri Lanka next time you are back home on holiday, and if you haven’t done the trip to Ella, there’s good news from the Railways Department.
A new luxury train service between Kandy and Ella railway stations started on 3 March.
Railways Deputy Commercial Superintendent N.J. Indipola said the luxury train operates on Saturdays and Sundays.
“The train compartments have been fully air conditioned and will leave Kandy at 7.40 a.m. and will arrive in Ella at 1.28 p.m. The same train will depart from Ella at 2.45 p.m. and arrive in Kandy at 8.05 p.m,” he said.
The tickets could be reserved via mobile broadband operators and from Kandy and Ella railway, he said.
Price of ticket: Kandy to Ella – Rs.1,250 and Kandy to Nanu Oya – Rs.1,000.
