Wadood’s work of art to be showcased at international art fair in Dubai

DUBAI: The exceptional work of Sri Lankan artist Mohamed Wadood will be on display at the international art fair, World Art Dubai, which will be held at Dubai World Trade Centre from 18 -21 April.

Wadood, a professional Quantity Surveyor based in Dubai, will be presenting his exhibits as part of Art 4You Gallery, which supports and showcases the talents of multicultural artists in the region.

The annual World Art Dubai event features affordable, contemporary art that brings to the fore the creativity of regional artists representing a wide display of art and culture from around the world. World Art Dubai is a part of Dubai’s Art Season that gives visitors and art lovers an opportunity to see an international collection of contemporary painting, prints, sculptures, photographs and mixed media.

The talented Wadood will have an exhibit titled ‘Saddle’ done in oil and acrylic paint on canvas. Another of his impressive work is titled ‘Wealth’ with oil on canvas, which reflects a combination of an elephant and camel.

Wadood took a fancy to art in 1967, and from 1970 onwards began devoting some of his valuable time to developing his talent in art and thus made it his hobby, drawing portraits, sketches, modern art, sceneries and cartoons using pencil, charcoal, watercolors and other basic tools. Since 2010, he has been continuing to draw with oil and acrylic paints.

‘Wealth’

His high quality work won official recognition when he won the First Prize in three art competitions for the public conducted by the Environment Department of Dubai Municipality to mark “World Wetland Day” in 2012, “Car Free Day” in 2016 and “Go Wild Dubai” in 2017.

His artistic talent reached a milestone when he was awarded a prize for an art titled “Creativity by Reading” conducted by Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein Cultural Centre, Dubai in 2017.

Wadood has participated in joint exhibitions conducted by the Knowledge Department of Dubai Municipality for the last four consecutive years. You can see Wadood’s work of art at World Art Dubai at the Art 4You Gallery located in Stand No. G18.
