Sri Lanka’s job market is rebounding strongly in 2026, supported by a growing economy, a World Bank backed digital transformation project targeting 100,000 digital jobs, and expanding sectors in IT, tourism, healthcare, and renewable energy. In Country Job Opportunities

  • IT & Tech (Colombo): Entry level developers typically start at LKR 100,000 to 150,000 per month, scaling rapidly with experience; senior roles in established firms can reach LKR 400,000 to 600,000 per month

The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) regulates and actively supports Sri Lankans seeking work abroad.

  • East Asia: Japan under the Technical Intern Training Programme and Specified Skilled Worker Programme; South Korea under the E 8 seasonal worker visa
  • Europe: Germany, Italy; skilled worker and care sector programmes
  • Oceania: Australia and New Zealand; skilled migration pathways
  • Russia and CIS: Emerging destinations; verify current SLBFE registered agencies before proceeding

Pre-departure training through SLBFE covers labour laws, cultural differences, and practical skills. It is strongly recommended before departure.
