NAIROBI: A delegation from the Kenya International Freight and Warehousing Association (KIFWA), led by its National Chairman, Fredrick Aloo, and Executive Officer, Wycliffe Wanda, paid a courtesy call on the Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Kenya, Ruvini De Silva, at the High Commission in Nairobi on 4 August 2026.
The meeting centred on strengthening trade and logistics cooperation between the two countries, with particular attention paid to promoting Sri Lanka Expo 2027, the flagship trade exhibition due to be held in Colombo. Discussions underlined the part the freight-forwarding and logistics sector plays in facilitating international trade and deepening commercial ties between Sri Lanka and Kenya.
Ms De Silva briefed the visiting delegation on the scope of Expo 2027, which is set to showcase Sri Lanka’s export sectors alongside its investment potential, tourism offering and wider business opportunities. She encouraged KIFWA’s membership to take part in the exhibition and to pursue trade and logistics partnerships with Sri Lankan counterparts.
The Acting High Commissioner also outlined plans for two promotional briefing sessions aimed at raising awareness of the Expo among Kenya’s business community: the first in Nairobi on 25 September 2026, followed by a second in Mombasa on 2 October 2026. The KIFWA delegation welcomed the initiative, pledging to encourage its members and the wider logistics community to attend both the briefings and the Expo itself.
Both sides closed the meeting by reaffirming their commitment to strengthening bilateral trade relations and to collaboration across freight forwarding, warehousing, shipping, logistics and international commerce more broadly, as part of efforts to build deeper economic cooperation between Sri Lanka and Kenya.
The outreach carries particular resonance for the Sri Lankan community in East Africa and those engaged in cross-border trade and logistics networks, offering a fresh avenue for commercial partnership as Colombo steps up its campaign to bring international buyers and investors to Expo 2027.
