Being away from family, the biggest concern of expatriates is to ensure timely support and care towards them.

Amana Bank offers a caring and dedicated financial partner back home to look into their finances and needs as if they are personally attending to it. The bank’s personal foreign currency accounts can save incomes in USD, GBP or any other available foreign currencies and enjoy on attractive profits share. Sri Lankan expatriates in Qatar can benefit from a preferred exchange rate during remittances and encashments, he said.

Akbar said the bank offers attractive dollar-terms deposit schemes for Qataris and other foreign nationals. Against the dollar investments, Amana Bank is able to pay much better premium than what they enjoy in this part of the world.

“For example our last paid dollar returns are 4 percent plus, which is quite relatively higher than in this region. The Sri Lankan exchange regulations allow a free flow of dollar deposits from foreign investors who can repatriate their funds without any restrictions”, he said.

Akbar said the bank is exploring potential partnership opportunities with some Islamic banks in Qatar. “Yes, we held several rounds of discussions with some potential partners. It’s too early to disclose the details,” he said. Amana Bank has also lined up a series of investment roadshows in the GCC region.
